How PackQR works.
PackQR 1.2 is available on the App Store. This page explains the current local-first workflow, Dark Mode and print-size options.
What is PackQR for?
PackQR is designed to help you create moving boxes, record contents and photos, print privacy-safe QR labels, then search or scan boxes when you need to find something later. Read the complete QR code moving-box app guide.
How is PackQR different from subscription or ad-supported moving apps?
PackQR is a focused, pay-once £1.99 moving tool. The intended design has no ads, PackQR account, monthly plan or hosted PackQR database for your box contents. It is built for packing, QR labels, scanning and moving-day search rather than business inventory management or insurance documentation.
Do I need an account?
No. PackQR does not require a PackQR account, hosted database or login for the core app.
Will my iPhone and iPad automatically stay in sync?
No. PackQR does not automatically sync a shared moving database across devices. Use manual export and restore when you want to move or protect a copy of your data.
Can other users collaborate through PackQR accounts?
No. PackQR focuses on fast, private, local use during a move rather than shared household accounts.
What appears on a printed label?
Labels show moving-day information: box number, destination room, QR code, handling flags and the PackQR name. Contents, item names, notes and photos do not appear on labels.
Which paper sizes and layouts are supported?
PackQR 1.2 supports A4 and US Letter QR-label sheets in 1-up, 2-up, 4-up and four-copy layouts, plus native 4 × 6-inch output for compatible label printers. Private contents lists can be printed on A4 or US Letter.
How does Dark Mode work?
PackQR follows the iPhone or iPad system appearance. Version 1.2 refines dark cards, fields, sheets, ordinary actions, selected controls and scanner torch states for better contrast.
Can I use it in a basement, storage unit or low-signal building?
Yes. The core app works offline after installation, so you can add, search and scan boxes without depending on Wi‑Fi or mobile signal.
Can I photograph items before I know the box?
Yes. The unassigned contents workflow lets you create an item with notes and photos first, then move it into a box later.
What happens if scanning fails?
Use manual lookup, search or recent boxes. Scanning should not be a dead end.
How should I back up a move?
The in-app export and backup flow lets users create plain or encrypted backup files. Exported backups may contain sensitive contents and photos, so store them carefully. You decide where to save them.
Recommended moving workflow
- Create or open your active move on the device you plan to use while packing.
- Add rooms you will use as destination labels.
- Create a box, add contents, apply flags such as Fragile or Unpack first, and attach photos when useful.
- Generate or reprint A4, US Letter or native 4 × 6 labels for boxes; use A4 or US Letter for private contents lists.
- On moving day, search or scan labels to find boxes fast, even without a reliable network.
- Export a manual backup before device resets, major app updates or moving your data to another device.
