PackQR is an independent UK software project operated by Ross Williams, creating a private moving-box app and original moving guides.

Current status

PackQR 1.2 is live on the App Store.

The app is available to purchase and download on the App Store for £1.99, paid once. Version 1.2 adds refined Dark Mode and A4, US Letter and native 4 × 6 label support. See the current release screenshots.

What PackQR is

PackQR is a private, local-first moving box scanner for iPhone and iPad. It helps people record what is inside each box, print privacy-safe QR labels and find important items without creating a hosted PackQR account or subscription. The website also publishes original moving guides and free practical checklists covering planning, packing, moving day, storage, student moves, family moves and downsizing.

Who operates PackQR

PackQR is an independent UK software project operated by Ross Williams.

Ross Williams

Ross Williams is a UK-based business owner and part-time app developer who uses technology to solve practical, everyday problems. After releasing a number of small macOS utilities, he moved into iOS development and began building focused apps shaped by real-life experience.

PackQR draws on Ross’s experience of moving through shared and solo rentals, cohabiting flats and several family homes. He has university-aged children considering their next moves and has supported older relatives through downsizing and retirement-related moves. Those experiences inform PackQR’s emphasis on calm planning, private labelling and practical tools that make moving and storage easier to manage.

Why it exists

Moving information is often spread across labels, notes, photographs, messages and half-remembered boxes. PackQR is intended to bring those details into one focused workflow while keeping private contents off the outside of each box.

The product and editorial library are shaped around real moving stages rather than business inventory management, advertising or recurring subscription tiers.

How the website is accountable

Articles identify their author and publication date. The Editorial Policy explains how PackQR creates, reviews and corrects its guidance. Website use, infographic permissions and restrictions are explained in the Terms of Use, while data handling is described in the Privacy Policy.
