Move Planner is completing App Store review. This page describes the release privacy design and will be updated if the final App Store privacy answers materially change.
Who operates Move Planner
Move Planner by PackQR is an independent UK software project operated by Ross Williams. Privacy questions can be sent to support@packqr.app.
No account required
The core app does not require an email address, PackQR account or hosted household profile.
Local planner data
Move details, generated tasks, completion state, private task notes, preferences and reminder choices are designed to remain on the user’s iPhone or iPad. The MVP does not use a hosted user database.
Local notifications, badges and system surfaces
Task reminders, smart briefings and weekly summaries are scheduled by the device. App-icon badges, Home Screen/Lock Screen widgets, quick actions and the user-started Move Day Live Activity use Apple system frameworks and do not require a notification server or hosted Planner account.
Widgets and Live Activities are designed to contain only glanceable planning information such as date status, countdown, next action, stage and completion counts. The Live Activity starts only when the user chooses and is removed when the plan is archived or reset.
Optional PackQR shared summary
PackQR 1.2 can detect whether Move Planner is installed; detection does not enable sharing. Enabling PackQR sharing prepares the summary locally but does not send it anywhere. When Move Planner is installed and both apps enable the connection, PackQR can write a small versioned document named packqr.summary.v1 into the shared App Group group.app.packqr.shared. Move Planner may read only total box count, unpacked count, Open First count, room identifiers/names with aggregate counts, last successful backup date and the last-updated timestamp.
The shared summary excludes item names, box titles, item or box photographs, notes, QR data, searches and backup contents. Disabling sharing removes the PackQR summary. Disabling the Planner connection clears its private cached copy.
Local handoff links
Versioned local URL routes can open the installed PackQR app at a relevant room or workflow. Route versions, room identifiers and scan modes are validated. Web fallbacks do not include private room names or local identifiers.
No automatic task completion
PackQR packing data can change priority or guidance, but it does not automatically complete a planner task. Completion remains an explicit user action.
Exports
Plan summaries and local backups are created only when the user requests them. The selected destination, such as Files or a cloud-storage provider, is controlled by that service’s privacy terms.
Website cookies and analytics
The current static PackQR website does not set advertising cookies or use third-party analytics scripts. Standard hosting and security logs may include IP address, browser information, requested address, time and basic security information.
Support email
When you email support, the message, contact details and anything you choose to include are received through the email provider. Avoid sending move notes or household details unless they are needed to resolve the issue.
Changes
Moving administration, platform requirements and the app implementation can change. Any material privacy change will be reflected here before or at release.
